In-Home Session Prep Checklist
For your first session with Lexi · Pre/Postnatal Performance Specialist
- Clear an ~8' × 8' floor area (move the coffee table, push the dog bed)
- If you have a yoga mat, lay it out — if not, I bring one
- Make sure there's clear wall space for any wall-supported drills
- If you have stairs nearby, that's actually a bonus — we may use them
- Leggings or shorts you can squat in without fighting the waistband
- Supportive bra — nursing bra if you're nursing, totally fine
- Top you can lift in (avoid loose tops if we'll be bent over)
- Bare feet, socks with grip, or low-profile sneakers — all work
- Hair tied back if it'll get in your face
- Water bottle (full)
- Whatever your baby needs: blanket, toys, bottle, pacifier, diaper bag
- Towel or burp cloth
- If you pump: be set up to pump before or after — and feel free to feed mid-session
- Phone within reach for any emergency
- How many weeks/months postpartum you are (or what week of pregnancy)
- Delivery type if postpartum (vaginal, with tears, C-section)
- Any OB-cleared restrictions
- Any diastasis recti, pelvic floor symptoms, or pain you're navigating
- Anything specific you want to work on today (or anything you want to skip)
- When you last ate / hydrated
- How sleep was last night (genuinely — this changes what we program)
- Yoga mat (or 2 if needed)
- Light + moderate dumbbells (3–25 lb range; can sub heavier if you have it)
- Kettlebells (8–24 kg range)
- Resistance bands (light, medium, heavy)
- Foam roller + lacrosse ball for mobility work
- Notebook for screening + program notes
- Baby in a carrier on your chest? Fine — many lifts work with baby in tow.
- Baby napping in a bassinet or pack-n-play? Fine — we keep volume low if they're sleeping.
- Toddler awake + playing? Lexi brings a small bin of safe-to-mouth gear they're welcome to use.
- Big kid wants to 'help'? They can count reps, hand you the kettlebell, do their own workout alongside.
- Need to step away to nurse, soothe, or change a diaper mid-session? Always fine. We pause, restart.
- Hydrate (postpartum + nursing both need ~30% more water than baseline)
- Eat something with protein within 30–60 minutes if possible
- Save any pain, leaking, or pelvic floor symptoms you noticed during/after — text them to Lexi for the next session's programming
- Schedule the next one — most clients are weekly or bi-weekly
01
The space
An 8-foot-by-8-foot clear area works. Living room, basement, even a garage. Floor surface matters less than you'd think — hardwood, tile, low-pile carpet all fine.
02
What to wear
Whatever you'd actually move in. No need to dress for an Instagram fitness photo. Comfort + the ability to bend, squat, and reach overhead is the bar.
03
Have nearby
Things to have within arm's reach so we don't lose 5 minutes mid-session.
04
Tell Lexi before we start
Everything below is normal and useful — none of it is awkward. The 60 seconds we spend on this at the door is what makes the session safe + relevant.
05
What Lexi brings
You don't need any equipment. Setup is under 90 seconds when she arrives.
06
Kid-care default
Kids 0–6 welcome at every session. No babysitter needed. Here's how it actually works in practice.
07
After the session
Two minutes of upkeep that makes the next session better.
